Rules |
1.
Distribution of age group slots: Men: 18/24, 25/29, 30/34, 35/39,
40/44, 45/49, 50/54, 55/59,60/64,65/69 older than 70 years old.,
Women: 18/24, 25/29, 30/34, 35/39, 40/44, 45/49, 50/54, 55/59,
60/64/, 65/69 older than 70 years old., Professional Men, Professional
Women
2. The athlete who receives a penalty during the bike
leg must warn the race official at the transition area, otherwise
he will be disqualified.
3. The Organizers have the power to take any appropriate
measures regarding the regulation.
4. Which are all irreversible.
5. Race directors do not accept any form of appeal.
6. Race kits will be handed in only after the athlete
has shown his identification document.
7. Race kits will be distributed on February 24th, from
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on February 25th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
whoever fails to pick up race kits during such period will be
disqualified from the race.
8. Race registration can not be transferred, where the
athlete who transfers his kit shall be suspended along the athlete
who receives it, during one year in any Ironman distance triathlon.
9. Bike check -in is mandatory, at the transition area
entrance.
10. Eligibility for professional status is based on the
athlete's past professional history or must be pre ? qualified
by race organizers.
11. After the finish, the athlete must remove his belongings
or must empower someone to do. After 11:30 p.m. Organizers not
responsible for the material left at the transition area.
12. Race organization will not refund athletes who decide
to refrain from the competition.
13. Failure to pick up the race kit will result in the
loss of ownership of it.
14. Finish time for the race is 16 hours, after which
all athletes will be disqualified.
15. All athletes who enter the race must be aware of
the regulation.
16. All athletes who have registered for the race will
automatically be insured, from the swim leg on. Organizers will
not be held responsible for any event occurring before or after
the race. Organizers will cover medical expenses of up to R$
3.000,00 (Three Thousand Reais). Any sum higher than this shall
be paid the athlete himself.
17. Athletes are insured R$ 30.000,00 (Thirty Thousand
Reais) for permanent damages or fatalities that should occur
during the race.
18. Organizers will not be responsible for any material
lost in or out of the transition area.
19. Information the registration for the Ironman of the
Hawaiihas that to be confirmed day 05/27/2001, with the payment
of the registration tax, case the athlete does not confirm the
vacant will be transferred to the next athlete classified in
the category.
20. Athletes who fall to receive their prize or are unable
to empower someone to do so will lose their awards.
21. Race registration can not be canceled.
22. INCOMPLETE ENTRY FORMS MAY BE ANULLED.
23. Registration limit: 1.000 athletes.
24. Race kits will not be distributed on race day.
25. All athletes will only be allowed to retrieve bike
and other materials only after the last athlete finishes his
bike leg.
26. IRONMAN BRAZIL will quality 45 athletes for the 2001
HAWAII IRONMAN, where the distribution of slots will be directly
proportional to the number of registered athletes in each age
group category . |

Swim (2,4 Mi) |
1.
Professional and Amateur one lap (3.800 m). The athlete must
finish the swim leg under two hours or shall be disqualified.
It is mandatory for all athletes to have the race number marked
down to their bodies by a member of the race organization;
2. Athletes must go around all bouies. Failure to do
so results in disqualification.
3. It is mandatory to hand in the velcro tag at the check
points.
4. Athletes must wear the swim cap provided by the race
organizers, or shall be disqualified.
5. It is strictly forbidden to use any swimming device,
or shall be disqualified (except goggles).
6. All amateur athletes are allowed to wear swimsuits,
regardless of water temperature. Professional athletes will
only be allowed to wear swimsuits if the water temperature reaches
22ºC or below. Water temperature will be announced on the technical
symposium day.
7. Athletes must not run on the beach, except for the
restricted area marked by race organizers, or shall be disqualified.
8. Athletes must exit the water 10 minutes before the
start, or shall be disqualified.
9. It is mandatory to start the race behind the Start
Line. . |
Bike
(112 Mi Professional and Amateur two laps 56
Mi) |
1.
Athletes must wear a hard shell helmet with buckle at all times
during the bike leg. Otherwise they will be disqualified.
2. Male athletes must wear a T?shirt, and the race number
must be visible in the bike and without any alterations. Failure
to comply with these rules may result in disqualification.
3. Drafting is not allowed, o amateurs and professionals,
have to keep a minimum distance of 15 m from the athlete in
the front, if the athlete fails to do so, he will be shown a
yellow card and will have to stop for 5 minutes in the transition
area. In case the athlete does not comply with this rule, he
will be disqualified.
4. Professional and Amateur athletes area allowed to
cycle only on the right lane. Failure to comply with this rule
will result in a yellow card and will be forced to stop for
5 minutes. If the athlete does not comply with this rule, he
will be disqualified.
5. Amateur and Professional athletes can overtake only
one athlete at a time, and will have to surpass his opponent
in less than 20 seconds. Failure to comply with this rule will
result in a yellow card, where the athlete will be forced to
stop for 5 minutes at the transition area. If the situation
occurs twice, the athlete will be disqualified.
6. When the athlete is overtaking an opponent, the opponent
must not respond. The opponent will have to wait the overtake
to be completed and move away from the draft zone. Failure to
comply with this rule will result in a yellow card, where the
athlete will be forced to stop for 5 minutes at the transition
area. If the situation occurs twice, the athlete will be disqualified.
7. Any form of physical assault or verbal insult towards
any member of the organization, will result in the disqualification
of the offender from this race and all others organized by the
IRONMAN BRASIL.
8. If an athlete should suffer an accident or fell sick,
he will be liable to an examination by a physician, and forced
to drop put of the race if the physician should diagnose a life?threatening
situation. |
Run
(26,2 Mi) |
1.
The race number must be placed the front torso, or the athlete
shall be penalized with a yellow card and shall have to stop
for three minutes. If the same should happen again, the athlete
shall be penalized with a red car and will be disqualified from
the race.
2. The control number must not be folded or cut, o else
the athlete will be liable to disqualification.
3. It is strictly forbidden the use of an assistant either
by bike or on foot. If this should happen, a race official will
penalize the athlete with a yellow card, meaning that the athlete
has to stop for five minutes. If the athlete does not comply
with this sanction, or if this situation is repeated, the athlete
will be shown a red card and will be disqualified from the race.
4. Men must wear a T?shirt, otherwise will be shown a
yellow card and will be forced to stop five minutes, and will
be disqualified if the same situation occurs again.
5. It is absolutely mandatory to go around the U turn
signs. The athlete who disobeys this rule is liable to disqualification.
6. It is mandatory to hand in the velcro tag at the checkpoint.
7. It the doctor in charge of the race feels that the
athlete is unable to continue in the race, or if there is life
threatening situation, the doctor may remove the athlete from
the race. |
